They are the nurturers, the caregivers, the chefs, the teachers, the ones who maintain household schedules, and the chauffeurs. Moms do all of this without batting an eye and do it with grace. Moms do it to ensure their kids get the best opportunities even if that means putting themselves on the back burner. And there is nothing asked of anyone in exchange for tackling all of these duties. Just a bit of appreciation, every once in a while, to remind moms that what they do matters and that they are seen. Because far too often women feel unseen and unappreciated as moms. Something that leaves them struggling with how to navigate these feelings while trying to be there for everyone and find some happiness all at the same time.

<![CDATA[Sorry Moms, But I'm (Secretly) Judging You]]> https://www.moms.com/mom-confession-sorry-secretly-judging-you/

Sorry moms, this is going to be confession time. It can be cathartic to get some confessions off your chest. To write down things that bother you, things you want to change about yourself, or just how your day went. Getting these thoughts out of our heads and onto paper can be great for mental health. However, this is normally done in private. Moms may write down their thoughts in a journal, or just on a piece of paper, and when they are done, they put it away or throw it out. They don’t say it out loud to anyone.I wanted to do it a bit differently. I wanted to write it down and then share it. Why? I am not really sure why, partly to get it off my chest but also to show other moms that we all judge people, and it is the “how” we judge that is most important. So, this will be a confession on what I (secretly) judge other moms for. I want to preface this by saying that I know it is not nice to judge, but I also know that we all judge, and it has its biological function, it is related to survival. However, I would never personally judge anyone. I would never say what I am about to say to a mom’s face who is venting and talking to me about her children and life.RELATED: How To React To People Who Judge Your ParentingThese are all my opinions and are based on how I parent, and my views and understanding of child development. With all that being said, moms, this is what I will secretly judge you for.

It taught us all the importance of physical and social interaction, and many didn’t realize how beneficial it was to us until it was gone. The act of talking, spending time together, and hugging are things that we realized that we took for granted, and we didn’t realize how much we needed them. However, science has been telling us that these things are important for a while now, but maybe it is time to listen.According to PsyPost, a new study was done that showed that getting a hug can reduce the levels of cortisol in a body following a stressful or traumatic event. This study was published in the journal, Comprehensive Psychoneroendocrinology, and it can be read in full here.RELATED: 'Free Mom Hugs' Founder Shares How To Support LGBTQ+ YouthThe study also found that self-soothing touch, like placing a hand on your heart, can also help to calm a person down. This is a helpful trick that a mom can use when she is all alone, or even to teach her child if they find themselves struggling when navigating a situation. The studies on physical touch and their healing qualities have been around for years. Previous studies have already shown that hugging and holding hands can lower blood pressure, and let people feel that they are safe and cared for. This is the first time they have looked at self-touch, so maybe giving yourself a hug is not such a bad thing. Aljoshca Dreisorner was the lead author of the study and they stated that touch is a very powerful communication style when we are thinking about safety and traumatic events.[EMBED_TWITTER]https://twitter.com/PsyPost/status/1464742593745412096[/EMBED_TWITTER]Coping with stress is something that children have to learn, and it is not even something that every adult knows how to do. Learning about different strategies and resources can help parents out there teach their children how to cope, and it can even help parents cope when parenting gets just a bit too stressful. Mental health, especially now, is incredibly important and it is wise to have every tool in our toolbox that we can to help get us all through it. So, if mom, or their child, is having a stressful day, they just need to find the closest person they can to give them a hug.Sources: PsyPost, Science Direct

<![CDATA[Why Mom's Needs & Desires Shouldn't Be Ignored]]> https://www.moms.com/why-moms-needs-desires-shouldnt-be-ignored/ When it comes to motherhood, nothing is that simple, and while it is a journey of love and caring, it is also messy, hard, and lonely. When a woman becomes a mother, it is an often-heard story that they put their needs last and everyone else comes before them. They have a baby to care for, older children to protect and make sure they have what they need and even a spouse that requires their energy. It is common that a mom can go to bed at night and feel like they have lost their identity.

Unfortunately, this is not always possible to do when your child is out there without you. It is important for children to know how to protect themselves. According to VeryWell Family, a child who is unprepared or unaware of his surroundings can become a target for bullying or something unthinkable like kidnapping; you just never know.

It was previously believed that teenagers who were born prematurely did not have the same level of self-esteem as their peers who born at term.

<![CDATA[Handling A Stressful Day At Work Before Bringing It Home]]> https://www.moms.com/how-to-handle-a-stressful-day-at-work-before-bringing-it-home/ It can seem impossible to be a working mother. You go to work each day to provide for your family and then come home to make dinner and care for your children and the home. A lot of mothers, and people in general, work at jobs that they don’t particularly like but they need the income, so they stay. They are working all day with the stress and anxiety that their job brings, and then they struggle to put on a happy face when they are on their way home. They want to walk in the door and leave all of that stress at work, where it belongs. This is a lot easier said than done, especially after a particularly rough day.

As their child grows, they take less naps than they used to, but they still may have the odd fling.

COVID-19 has changed the lives of everyone, and it has left little untouched. Schools have been moved to virtual, which has already highlighted how cases of abuse are going “missed,” because teachers are not seeing their students and are not seeing the normal red flags that they would normally see. It turns out that neglect may be happening much more than anyone realizes.
